Brandon Wagner | Men's Head Coach

Brandon Wagner enters his second season at the helm for the Clemson’s men’s tennis program.

In his inaugural season, Wagner led the Tigers to 14 regular season wins and guided the team to the ACC Championship Quarterfinal match. For ACC opponents, Clemson beat Miami for the first time since 2018 and secured wins against Notre Dame, Louisville, and Virginia Tech for the first time since 2016. Wagner led the Tigers to five ACC Wins for the first time since 2016. In the 2023 campaign, the Tigers had two singles players ranked in the Top 125 and had the duo of Noa Vukadin and Max Smith finish 32 overall. In their first season as a pairing, Vukadin and Smith beat two Top 15 doubles teams.

Before Clemson, Wagner served on the Texas Longhorns’ staff as an assistant and associate head coach since 2019. In his last season at Texas, Wagner saw a national semifinal appearance and Big 12 Championship in 2023. Wagner was named the Texas Regional ITA Assistant Coach of the Year in 2023.

Wagner played an integral role in the Longhorns’ success over the past four seasons, compiling a 81-24 overall record and advancing to two national semifinals and the Round of 16 during his time in Austin.

Before his successful stint at Texas, Wagner was a professional circuit touring coach, helping develop American tennis superstar John Isner, and aiding him to climb nearly 100 spots into the top 80 of the ATP rankings. He also coached WTA top-40 players such as Olga Govortsova, Ajla Tomljanovic, and Melanie Oudin. Wagner’s expertise was not limited to professional players, as he also groomed several junior players who reached the top five of the USTA national rankings.
